The Corsica Annual Regatta was held October 14th. As they have done in the past, the Penguins and Hobie Waves had a separate race course from the other fleets, enabling the committee to get in 5 good races. 5 Penguins, including 3 from the Beachwood Yacht Club in NJ made the trek down to supplement the two Chesapeake boats sailed by Mike Baugh and Gene Williams. This is Gene’s first Penguin regatta, having recently acquired the boat from Andrew Parish. Will Wiencke won 4 of the 5 races to take home the Temple Blackwood trophy. Unfortunately, the day was a bit of a washout, however that didn’t deter the spirits of the Penguin racers. Keith Richards took a bullet in race 2, and then a dip in race 3, which ended his day. Look for a Fall date for the Annual Regatta next year, although reportedly it will be two weeks earlier.
