The 2022 Penguin Internationals was strictly a regional affair with the 5 teams coming from Anne Arundel and Calvert Counties with two crew from the Eastern Shore.  PRO Heidi Bay kept the fleet ashore Saturday morning until they got antsy and headed out to the race course in a northeasterly breeze.  That breeze didn’t hold, as Heidi had warned, but it did eventually fill in from the southeast and we managed to get in 4 races, sailing across the West River.  Heidi did get 9 races in over the two days, continually adjusting the course as the wind direction was fickle both days.  Bill Lawson and Colette Preis figured out the tricky winds and won the first two races.  RJ Bay sailing with a different crew in each race with 8 yr. old twins Amelia and Hannah Jarashow trading off from the committee boat for Saturday’s races and then sailing with 6 yr. old Jimmy White  on Sunday, showed consistently strong performance, aided by some local knowledge perhaps, as the windlines, holes, and knowing which side was more likely to pay off seemed to defy logic.

Chris Conway, sailing with 10 yr. old Dorsey Owings, took a 2nd in race 1, and a bullet in race 7 to edge out Charlie and Cairn Krafft for 3rd overall.  Devon Feusahrens sailing with Donna McKenzie, received the Faith Israel perpetual for the top female team, and were consistently in the mix in the competitive fleet.
