Greetings PRSA sailors!!

I wanted to take a moment to update you all on the planning for the combined President's cup and Cantina cup event taking place in September...

The first and most important thing is to let you all know - THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME EVENT!!! The next most important thing... that we have had to move the regatta date forward one week to September 14th-15th. In order to be able to hold a giant party on the Wharf, Washington DC's premier location, dedicated to sailing in Washington DC, we had to be a tiny bit flexible on the date. Last fall we looked at multiple options for dates and tried to coordinate with all fleets activities, so I know this will affect the I20 fleet attendance - sorry guys. I know the rest of us have busy lives and lots of events to coordinate, so we wanted to get the news out.

As most of you know, DC Sail is the community sailing program of the National Maritime Foundation, a 501c3 foundation, and Cantina Cup is their premier fundraising event for their sailing / STEM scholarship program. Fortunately, through the generosity of corporate sponsorships, all of us frugal sailors can be a big part of the success of this event without actually spending much of our own money, no fundraising, nothing. All you need to do is go to the party Saturday night, eat a little, drink a little, enjoy live music, and have fun!! Cantina Bambina will be donating a portion of food and drink sales Saturday night, as we'll as awards for Saturday's sailing, to DC Sail. In order to get everyone from Washington Sailing Marina over to the Wharf, PRSA will be chartering a couple of buses to run between WSM and the wharf. (No parking hassles or expenses!!)

Logistics - DC Sail members will register for the Cantina Cup on their website. PRSA & SCOW Sailors and guests will register for the President's cup and Cantina Cup through a single registration linked from PRSA's website.  As always, PRSA's regatta organizers will structure the regatta entry fee to cover our expenses, nothing more. Since we will not be catering dinner Saturday, registration fees will be much lower. As usual Sunday, we will have snacks and beverages at WSM during the awards party.

We will be sharing additional details as we work them out. As of now, we can promise PRSA's usual standard for excellent race management and an excellent party. We are excited to promote this event to support and celebrate sailing in the District with all of our local sailing clubs!!

Cheers!
