PRO James Jacob did a super job setting and resetting the lower race course for the PRSA Spring Regatta. 6 Penguins and 5 Lasers raced in the cove. The wind direction varied, literally from north to south, with easterly and westerly contributions.
With only one boat, they spent a fair amount of time moving marks – at one point it seemed that using the well marked shoal, which had a long row of yellow buoys, would work by selecting which buoy to round, but water depth concerns kept him from doing that. Bob Richards made the trip from Rainelle, WV to sail in a borrowed boat, and vowed he will be back. Bob has been building a Penguin Fleet there from donated boats and is busy restoring a couple of boats, while also helping people in all sorts of boats, learn how to sail and how to care for and maintain their boats. Scott Allan with son Stuart sailing in their newly acquired Burtis Penguin sailed to a second place finish. We look forward to seeing them at more Penguin events over the summer.
